The snow falls on our grave as the living carry on …
The world doesn’t pause when we’re gone. Life keeps moving—cars still drive by, laughter rings from playgrounds, the sun rises … and the snow falls. Quietly. Gently. Covering our grave as if trying to hush the ache of mortality.
But the real question is not when we die or even how.
The question is: Where will you go when this life ends?
You will step into eternity when your heart beats for the last time. Heaven or hell. Light or darkness. Peace or torment.
Forever joy … or forever separation from the One who made you.
Why do we spend our lives obsessed with what doesn’t last—money, status, fleeting pleasures—while ignoring the one decision that will echo through all of eternity?
You can lose your house.
You can lose your job.
You can lose your name, your security, and all your possessions.
But if you lose your soul …
You’ve lost everything.
Jesus asked, “What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Mark 8:36)
One trillion years from now will only be one second in eternity.
Picture this: A dove descends from heaven, lands on a beach, and picks up one tiny grain of sand. It flies to the blazing sun, drops it off, and returns to do it again. Only after every grain of sand from every beach, desert, and ocean is gone … only then has one second of eternity passed.
If we really understood that, we would run to Christ—today.
And maybe that’s why you’re reading this right now.
Usually, I write for believers. But today, this message is for you—the one who’s never truly surrendered to Christ or the one who once walked with Him but drifted away. You’ve felt the distance, the void, and deep inside, your heart longs to be made right.
Can you hear Him?
He’s not shouting. He’s whispering your name with tears in His eyes.
“Come home.”
Like the father of the prodigal son, He’s been watching the horizon, waiting for you.
His arms are open. His heart is full of mercy.
But time is short … and the snow is already falling.
We don’t run to God because we’re afraid of hell—we run to Him because He gave us a better way. He gave us Himself. A Father who gave His only Son to rescue us from death.
“The wages of sin is death …” (Romans 6:23)—the paycheck we all earned.
But Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, took our place. He bore the nails, the shame, the wrath we deserved. He did not die to start a religion—He died to give you life.
But belief alone is not enough. Even demons believe—and tremble (James 2:19).
What saves you is repentance—turning from sin—and commitment—surrendering fully to Christ. That’s when your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Let me share a powerful picture with you …
The Two Tickets
Imagine standing in a massive train station that stretches as far as the eye can see. Crowds of people bustle about, most unaware of what’s coming. Over the intercom, a voice announces:
“Now boarding: The Train to Eternity.”
There are only two trains. One leads to eternal life, and the other to eternal separation from God.
No one knows when their train is coming. It could be in fifty years … or five minutes.
You glance down at your hand—and realize you’re holding a ticket.
But it’s blank.
You haven’t made a choice.
All around you, some are sprinting toward the platform of life, clutching a ticket marked “Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb.”
Others are distracted—by phones, jobs, relationships, and sin. Some mock the voice over the intercom. Still, others hesitate … thinking they have more time.
Then suddenly—your name is called.
You step forward. But your ticket is still blank.
And once the train departs … there are no second chances.
Oh, beloved …
The snow falls on our grave as the living carry on.
But those who belong to Jesus will rise to everlasting life.
Will you receive Him now?
Whether you’re coming to Him for the first time or returning like the prodigal, don’t delay. Don’t wait until tomorrow. Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).
Let’s pray together:
Dear Jesus,
I admit that I am a sinner.
I have fallen short of Your glory.
Please forgive me.
Wash me clean.
I turn from my old life and run to You.
I believe You died for me and rose again.
Come into my heart.
Be my Savior and my Lord.
Write my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
From this moment forward, I belong to You.
And for those returning to Him:
Lord,
I’ve wandered from You.
But I want to come home.
Forgive me for my backsliding.
Heal my heart.
Restore what has been lost.
I surrender fully to You again.
Hold me close … and I’ll never walk away again.
By Your grace, I commit my life to You.
Amen.
If you prayed that prayer sincerely, all of heaven is rejoicing! Your name is written in a glorious book, and one day, when you take your final breath, and your spirit leaves your body, you will awaken in Heaven. The gates will open wide, and Jesus will say:
“Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
Until that day, walk closely with Him. Love Him deeply. Share His great mercy with others. And find a Bible-believing church where you can be taught and grow in His Word.
Because one day … the snow will fall on your grave.
But if you belong to Christ … you will rise again.
With Love,
Steve Porter
